We love and practice the good things in life…. traveling, dining out, wine tasting, peaceful walks on the beach, yoga, and many forms of deep relaxation. We also have a super happy and wildly energetic 7-year-old son on the severe side of the autism spectrum who needs constant supervision and attention.
Through our dedication to our son, our family and our love for life, we realized that we could actually have it all.
WHAT we are creating
We are a happily married couple living in Southern California with the unbridled commitment that all families with hardships similar to ours can live the life of their dreams.
Many families with children and adults with special needs often believe that they cannot dedicate time for self-care because there is no one qualified enough who can care for their family member in need, even for a short time. They forgo their self-care in the name of taking care of their loved one with special needs and often grow privately resentful over time as their children reach adulthood, and/or they end up with some form of severe depression.
Fifty percent of mothers with children with autism have had elevated depression, compared to 15 percent to 21 percent of mothers in other categories. We recognized that we would also have been a statistic if any part of our lives was compromised for autism. So we made it a rule never to live our lives around autism, but rather, let autism find a way to live within the life we designed.
This incredible life design is in the form of a boutique resort hotel in the heart of a California wine country that fits the luxurious lifestyle of an active adult, as well as the fun and rigorous environment that children on the autism spectrum need to develop and thrive.
Our Mission
We are committed to each child and parent who thinks they can’t do more, be more, and/or have more. The possibilities are endless. Everyone in this world has the right to explore, expand and thrive into their own true greatness. This God-given greatness is each individuals contribution to the world.
No goal is too high to reach. No dream is too big to come true. At Thrive Hotel, the possibilities are endless.
OUR ASPIRATIONS
We plan to offer variety of adaptive services for children of all ages, on the autism spectrum and various other special needs. We plan to partner with adaptive therapists in areas of applied behavior analysis, occupational therapy, psychology, psychotherapy, physical education, speech therapy and many more services, to offer a customized, well-rounded program for children with special needs during their stay at Thrive Hotel.
In parallel, we plan to offer adult tours of wineries, private wine tasting parties, trips to the beach, surf lessons, yoga and meditation, fitness training, and many other activities to suit well-deserved parents and caregivers of special needs children.
At Thrive Hotel, everyone is taken care of.
HOW WILL IT WORK?
Thrive hotel will be opened year round to families and individuals alike.
If you are a couple without children wishing to spend a quiet weekend out of town, we offer that space in our simplified, high-end boutique resort without the high-end price.
Likewise, if you are a family with children with special needs, book your stay with us in advance, and we will provide a customized stay-package that caters to your individual needs, including specialized child care and therapies similar to what you are getting at home.
